Wood County is centrally located in Wisconsin and is within a two hour drive of nearly every major city in the state. We have 6 public and three private school districts to choose from located throughout the county. Wood County offers a variety of activities at any of our 7 recreational parks, 3 rivers, many lakes, 38,000 acres of county forest land, and 18,500 acres of Wood County State Wildlife Area. These areas allow for hunting, camping, boating and other outdoor activities including a 400 acre ATV Park, 258 miles of snowmobile trails and Approximately 14 miles of cross country skiing trails. Sandhill and Meade Wildlife Preserves both offer a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, wildlife viewing and hunting. The Wisconsin State Water Ski Show is held annually at Lake Wazeecha in the Wisconsin Rapids Area. Our neighboring counties offer numerous other outdoor recreational activities in addition to those available here.
