Facilitators
The people who facilitate the Catholics Coming Home program are
women and men of the Stevens Point Area Catholic Community, both lay and
religious, who volunteer their time in service to help Catholics return to
the community. Some have also been away and have returned themselves.
The purpose of the facilitators is to organize the meetings and to moderate
the programs.
Facilitators are not there to solve problems that people might have, but
rather are good listeners who help with the sharing of experiences of the
group. It is in the sharing of the circumstances and reasons that have
kept us apart from the community that can often times start the
reconnection/healing process. Facilitators can also suggest resources
that might be useful to people desiring to return to the community as they
continue their journey of faith.
As the need arises we invite religious, such as priests, sisters, brothers,
and deacons, to talk to the group about the various aspects of the Catholic
tradition.
This program is not about converting people of other religious communities
to the Catholic community. It is about helping non-practicing
Catholics
to rejoin the community and to welcome them "home".
